Data Socket Timeout
FTP Explorer Troubleshooting Tip: 62007
Description:
FTP Explorer timed out while attempting to connect the data socket for a
transfer.
Possible Causes:
- Firewall software blocking reverse connection from server.
- Server does not have connectivity to the client.
- Network problems are preventing the connection.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Try Using PASV Mode.
Open the Connection Dialog via the TOOLS, CONNECT menu option, then select the
appropriate profile.
Enable the Use PASV Mode checkbox for the profile.
- Disable Firewall
If you are unable to use PASV mode, or if using PASV mode does not resolve
this issue, there may be a firewall blocking the data connection.
Contact your system administrator to determine if you can temporarily disable
the firewall to see if this resolves the problem. If it does, have your
system administrator configure the firewall to allow FTP data connections.
- Network Troubleshooting
In general, if you are able to establish an FTP command connection to the
server, then you should not have a problem establishing a data connection.
However, it is possible that intermittent network problems are preventing the
server from establishing the data connection.
CContact your system administrator to determine if there are any network problems
that could be affecting the connection.
